Gusty East winds over the crest will subside later today and temps will begin to slowly move up……Much more warming is expected over the weekend……The outlook is dry for the next 7 days….

Gusty East winds were still in play over the crest this morning. However, the weather system and its cold air advection and surface gradient will track away from Mammoth today and thus the winds will diminish throughout the day over sierra crest. Temperatures will warm into the upper 40s today with lows tonight in the teens and twenties. High pressure aloft will build into our area over the weekend bringing well above normal temps. Expect highs by Sunday near 60 in Mammoth. Expect 23 degrees of warming between Wednesdays highs and Sundays!
Fair weather will continue through Monday with breezy cooler weather beginning Tuesday into Wednesday the 19th. The mid week weather system is an inside sider. This is typically a dry type storm bringing wind, cooling and a slight chance of flurries or showers…Tuesday night/Wednesday AM. That system will be followed by a short wave ridge which is followed by another windy trof over the weekend. It is possible that we may get some light snowfall that following weekend of the 22nd.
