Winds on the increase again Tuesday into Thursday as several short waves head our way……More Snow On The Way!
Monday April 4, 2011
The Dweebs had a nice break last week while soaking up some Sun and 100 degree heat in Palm Desert. Now it’s time to chill and get ready for some spring upper jet action!
It appears that there will be two significant systems to deal with…..not counting Tuesday night’s wimpy one. The first comes through late Thursday night and the other early next week. Using “Hovmuller”surface cyclogenesis theory, the energy from the first system comes through early this Friday morning and the 2nd systems energy comes through about the 13th. The 2nd system looks like it may be dampening out as the long wave upper ridge retrogrades toward the dateline…..thus weakening the upstream jet.
Note on the Weekend system:
The storm currently in the gulf of Ak is a very deep system that will dig SSE, bringing cold showery weather to the Sierra Thursday through Saturday with a lot of wind preceding the storm. It may bring some 4 to 8 inches over the upper elevations on Mammoth MT Thursday night into Friday morning with additional lighter amounts into early Saturday in showers. The upper trof kicks out in advance of new heights falls headed into California next Monday for another round of unsetteled spring weather Tuesday into Wednesday.
