Absolutely Beautiful Weather To Continue In The High Country…..Some Thunder Possible Next Week…..
Thursday August 18, 2011
Today is what it was like when its 83F in Mammoth and Bishop 100. A few high clouds at times but oh what increadable Summer day. The Dweebs wish it would last through most of October!
The Players:
Upper Ht 500 high over four corner states and a weak positive tilt upper trof off shore. Flow is WSW into Central Ca. Dry, Dry Dry!
Next slight change progresses the upper high a bit east while the weak upper trof nudges closer to the coast. Net result is for just a tad of cooling Friday and Saturday with a bit more Zephyr. The outlook for next week still suggests a chance of southerly flow up into Central Ca by mid week. So expect the pops to increase by then. Southerly flow occurs as the upper high retrogrades back a bit into California. No doubt it will warm up again as well…..Monday through Wednesday. Then on Wednesday/Thursday, an upper jet of 50knots at 250mb moves into Central and Northern Ca. There should be an area of good divergence aloft, most likely over the Northern Sierra for some possible thunder. Will keep the Dweebs updated……:-)
Long Range 6 to 10 and 8 to 14 day outlooks are quite warm here in Mammoth as the continential upper high biases over the far western states…..
The Dweeber………………………..:-)
