Warm Up still on track with highs in the upper 60s this weekend. Purrrfect for the Mammoth Ocktober Fest.    Lows at night will be in the 30s so take the parka to be sure if venturing out tonight!   The outlook beyond the weekend shows a dry NW slider affecting our area Sunday night and Monday with breezy conditions and some cooling compared to Sundays highs. Highs cooling to the low to mid 60s. Then one last warm up mid week, before a major trof of low pressure affects our area the following weekend.  “Might” be big enough to open the mountain.  Lots of moving parts, but stay tuned as if you thought the Summer was short, the Fall maybe even shorter!

BTW…It does look like an early ski season out west with above average snowfall for the Central Sierra according to the ECMWF;  October and November…..:-)

First it was extreme fire weather and lights out,  then the big chill!   The last weekend of Summer will be pretty seasonal. Highs in the mid to upper 60s with a mainly dry cold front passage expected Sunday night. It will get breezy again Sunday and Sunday night, however, after today rains, the areas’ shrubs and trees should be more moist!

After the first day of fall Monday which will be cooler, it will warm up again, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Expect highs returning to the upper 60s Tuesday and Wednesday.

Extended Outlook shows heights collapsing again over the following weekend and beyond.

It is of interest that the MJO is amplifying in Phase 8 to 1 and stalls out in phase 1.   This time of the year that is a cold signal for the west.
