Quick Monday Morning Update:

Yes…….An adjustment wave is forecasted to form this week and today’s energy is headed through the pacific NW and clash with the desert heat. Breezy weather occurred all night last night and in fact the breezes were felt down into the Long Valley area where Mammoth AP had wind all night. As the desert heat develops today….gradient winds will add to the pict in making this quite the breezy day in Mammoth and down right windy over the crest and along the lee.  Winds could gust as high as 80mph over the crest today with gusts in Mammoth in the 25 to 40mph range.  Winds will abate tomorrow as some ridging rebuilds into the state for the first few days of summer. Then an even stronger trof cools things down and brings even more winds Friday in the weekend.

Day time highs will fluxuate between the low 70s and low 80s this week.  Lows in the upper 30s by weeks end and 50s.

Update Thursday AM:

The guidence still shows some weak forcing this afternoon and Friday as a couple of weak impulses aloft provide additional lift to the atmosphere.  Additionally, PWAT is over a half inch over the Sierra. So some of the isolated storms may include brief heavy rain as well. By Saturday, the weak upper trof becomes closed and drifts out to sea….giving way to strong height rises from the NW. It is expected that the latter will enough to bring near record high temps to the Owens Valley both Sunday and Monday. Highs in Mammoth the early part of next week will be in the low 80s. Longer range still looks warm with 80s in Mammoth the first days of Summer!!

The Medium Range Models today shows the weak baggy trof over the far west weakening as the upper ridge in the Eastern Pacific located about 130west, retrogrades to the northwest of the Big Island of Hawaii at 150west. This evenings GFS 00z Thursday has 500mb heights to 600dm along 150 West Sunday Afternoon. Anomalous 500mb Heights of about 590dm curves into Ca from the Northwest.

Noting that the wave length is pretty broad from that upper high east across to the Midwest… it will be interesting to see if an adjustment wave does not form over the west. However…..For the time being it just looks toasty for Eastern California.

Sensibly…..It will either be warmer then normal this weekend then seasonal and breezy next week or…….just warm right on through the week!!

Either Way its time to brake out the plants and get them in the ground as early Summer weather is here!!!

Expect highs in the 70s and low 80s for the next week with lows in the upper 30s and mid 40s.

The Dweeber………………………………………………….:-)
