One Last Vort Center Moving our way this Afternoon with More Showers and Thunderstorms Today and Tonight….Slow drying trend with just a chance of showers Sunday….Warming trend Monday through next week…..
Saturday May 23, 2015
Nice Vort coming down the interior of CA this afternoon. It should be south of us by 10:00pm. Showers are breaking out all over at the moment. There could be thunder and hail as well as some brief heavy rain later today….. Amounts .25 to .50 are possible in localized areas.
The block over the NWT and over AK will weaken next week but not totally disappear. However, the Westerlies are definitely showing their age and looking pretty wimpy as we more into June……..Summer not far away…..
This El Nino induced Split flow pattern is loosing steam as the sun is taking its toll on the Arctic cold….. Slight chance of late spring showers next week, but more air mass induced so not much to write home about.
The Nino 3.4 region is all the rage these days with possible Super Nino status by mid fall. However, winter is still up for grabs until better Vis comes later in the Summer…..
Remember……We have had very wet Winters with the Nino 3.4 region in moderate the range. The Winter of “69” the biggest snow year of all time was a moderate El Nino. IE Between +1C and +1.5C. It is just that the “predictability” of a wet winter this far north is not as good as it would be if the Nino 3.4 region was equal to or greater than +2C….. During Jan, Feb and March.
As far as Southern CA……Time to begin building the Ark? 😉
