A slow cool down may begin tomorrow Tuesday in Mammoth, but definetly more cooling Wednesday into the weekend.  Tuesdays highs will still be in the upper 70s but by the weekend, mid 60s looks likley. Lows at night now in the low 50s will cool to the 30s over the weekend. Winds later this week look like they could reach 30MPH to 40MPH range. This pattern is associted with a healthy Early September Trof off the Pacific NW and Northern CA for early September. Again…..Wind will be an issue with gusts in 40MPH range later in the week. Looking longer range, there may be some showers by weeks end.

Longer range next week still shows cooler than normal weather next week with 60s most likley to continue for highs at 8000 feet next week.

Normal highs in Bishop are low 90s in early September and low to mid 70s in Mammoth.

The persistent ridge across the Central U.S. continues to promote troughing across the West through the weekend into early next week. The pattern will remain somewhat stagnant through the weekend with typical warm days and cool nights, afternoon breezes, intermittent passing mid to high clouds.

Highs in Mammoth will be in the mid 70s this weekend with lows in the lows in the 40. Expect afternoon breezes each day into the evening hours.

Outlook:

Although the pattern is simular by early September, there is the chance of subtropical mositure coming up from Baja into CA and enhancing the possibility of afternoon and evening Showers. Nothing major at this time, but you never know. At this time, I do not see any tropical storms for our area. Temps next week look a bit warmer with highs near 80 early week. Looks like an amazing week for Mammoth!

Long Range:

We have ourself’s what is becoming a strong El Nino.  We have had strong El Ninos that have dumped a lot of precip over CA and others that have brought drought. No guarantees! Lets hope for at least normal to above normal precip! One item worth mentioning is that these storms tend to promote, higher snowlevels, so be advised of that.
